Last week I decided to pick Indonesia for the week’s country. I had Indonesian food before with my friend Michelle (who is Indonesian) and Brye. I contacted her and asked her what restaurant we ate out before and it was Jayarkarta in Berkeley! It was perfect because it was only 15 minutes from my house! Then I asked her what she recommended and got everything she said was extremely good.
Matthew came here in the evening and it was a bit busy with only one waiter. We sat down and picked something from the menu and waited for the waiter to take our order. It was a really long wait, about 15 minutes. When he finally came we ordered the spicy chicken fried rice, Mie Tek Tek, chicken satay, and I tried their ice drink, Es Teler.
I got the drink first and it was extremely good. It was like the Philippines Halo-Halo just without the red beans and jello. Then we got our fried rice extremely fast. It was sooo good. It had the right amount of flavors and it wasn’t that spicy! Then the Mie Tek Tek came out and that’s what the restaurant is most known for. There were two chilis next to this on the menu, but it actually wasn’t that bad! The noodles were nice and soft and the fried egg on top was perfect! It was great with the egg yolk. Then lastly the Chicken Satay came out and the peanut sauce on it was delicious! It went well with the fried rice! 🙂
I’ve actually had chicken satay before! In Japan! One of my close friends there is Indonesian so we found an Indonesian restaurant and she recommended this! But yeah. I had a really great experience. The service was okay, but the food was amazing so it made up for it! I would definitely come back. The food was 10 out of 10!
